Lois L. Wentworth, 89, of Decatur, IL passed away on Wednesday (Sept. 1, 2010) at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 7, 2010) at Dawson &Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday (Sept. 6, 2010). Burial will be in Illini Cemetery. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com.

Mrs. Wentworth was born on October 27, 1920 in Rural Maroa, IL, the daughter of John J. and Lenora (Lienhart) Johnson. Lois graduated from Maroa High School in 1938. She then attended Illinois Commercial College, University of Illinois. She worked as a secretary at Hayes, Downing & Rosenberg Attorneys, as a bookkeeper at Citizens Bank and Decatur Industrial Electric and also was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Decatur, IL. She married George H. Wentworth on October 9, 1943.

Surviving are her husband: George H. Wentworth of Decatur, IL; son: George H. Wentworth Jr. of Glen Ellyn, IL; daughter: Deborah A. Grimm of San Diego, CA; brother: Jack L. (Shirley) Johnson of Decatur, IL; sister: Virginia Bartlett of Winter Haven, FL; step grandchildren: Eric (Renda) Grimm of San Diego, CA and Alyson Jewell of Poway, CA; three step great grandchildren; two step great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law: Fred N. (Evelyn) Wentworth of Warrensburg, IL; sister-in-law: Ruth M. (Masaru) Kameya of Oceanside, CA; twenty-two nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law: Robert Grimm, brothers-in-law: Richard E. Bartlett, John H. Wentworth, Merle A. Wentworth; sister-in-law: Mildred E. Carpenter; step grandson: Steven Grimm.

George and Family -

 

I was out of town for the Labor Day weekend and did not return in time to make the visitation for your mother. Our parents have given us so much thru the years and have been our biggest supporters, as children we try to treasure them as long as we can. Her passing certainly creates a void, however the memories will always be with you and the sharing of them with family and friends keeps her spirit alive in us. God will take good care of her, you can be sure of that.

 

Hope to see you at the 45th class reunion.
